2002 – 2020
Kelton Bruce Ankeny, 18 years young, passed away July 8, 2020 at Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, CA.
Our lives were changed the moment Kelton came into this world on May 31, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Kelton was so very inquisitive, intelligent, loyal, independent, charismatic, and always looking for ways to make people laugh and to have adventures with all his family and friends. He felt at home outdoors — camping, hiking, and exploring – but his “favorite place in the whole world, even better then Disneyland” was Orcas Island, WA at the family home that has been shared through the generations from his Great, Great Grandfather, Elam H. Kelton, Mason Foreman at Mount Constitution Tower. Many summer months were spent on Orcas Island fishing off the deck, rowing in the serene bay, digging for clams, and chasing baby Dungeness crab that scurried out from under every rock. He always looked for hidden treasures on the beach and analyzed every sea creature he could find. Countless wonderful memories shared and cherished there with his sister, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kelton leaves behind many family members and friends so deeply grieving at this loss. Kelton is survived by his parents Kelly & Kami Ankeny, his beautiful sister Kara, his grandparents Bruce “Bop” & Kary “Noni” (Kelton) Calantropio and Roger & Martha Ankeny. Kelton will forever be in our hearts, always loved, and is so unbelievably missed.
We are trying to take cmfort in God’s promise, Kelton, that all your family and friends can see you again – happy, healthy, and whole. “We Love you to Orcas Island and back,” beautiful boy.
Kelton was laid to rest at the Northern CA Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA. Arrangements are being made to have a private family gathering to scatter some of Kelton’s ashes at the Westsound, Orcas Island family home as he would have wished.
