Kartar Singh Dhaliwal | Passages

Kartar Singh Dhaliwal, age 81, died of natural causes on February 18th, 2018, on Orcas Island, WA. He is survived by his dear wife of 59 years, Harjeet Kaur Dhaliwal nee Maan; his daughter, Swaran Kaur Dhaliwal; his son-in law, Bruce Dalusio; his grandchildren, Skylar and Taurin Dalusio, his sister, Daljit Kaur Gill and brothers, Harbans Singh and Harpal Singh, and extended family all over the world.

Kartar was born on July 23, 1936 in Singapore, to parents Bakshis Singh and Punjab Kaur of India. At an early age and to protect him from any harm as a result of WWII, he was sent to India and spent a few years with his grandparents. He returned to Singapore after the end of WWII; and attended Raffles School for his primary and secondary education. He married his wife on Dec. 26, 1958 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. He graduated from Concordia University in 1982 with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. He pursued his career in teaching Mathematics until 1993. He migrated to the US in 1994 and enjoyed his retirement, moving from Florida, and then to Netarts, Oregon and making his final home base on Orcas Island, WA.

A man of small stature, he had the heart of a giant and loved his family unequivocally. He had an infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. He enjoyed teaching, reading, exercising and liked to keep up-to-date with current events all over the world. He was a devout Sikh and took solace in praying and listening to hymns. He will be dearly missed.

The Service (Bhog Ceremony) will be held at noon on March 17 at Guru Nanak Gursikh Gurudwara, Lynden, WA, USA.
