Joyce Ivans, 84, of La Conner, Wash. passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, surrounded by family.

She was born in Fargo, North Dakota. After graduating from Santa Barbara State College in California, Joyce married Joe Ivans and they raised three children in their 53 years of marriage. Joyce loved family dinners where she could chat about everything and anything.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who loved to travel, making many, many lifelong friendships. Joyce was an amazing chef and hostess, a lover of life. “Mom, you will always have a special place in our hearts, your tenacity for life will not be forgotten, Frogs!”

Joyce is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Brenda Ivans and Jim Ivans; grandchildren, Ryan and Anneke Ivans; daughter, Terry Teitgen; and granddaughter, Julie Tietgen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joyce’s name to the Sea Doc Society in Eastsound, Wash. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, Wash. and the San Juan Islands.
