John U. Oakes passed away at “The Anchorage,” his Orcas Island home on Buck Mountain, on Aug., 28, 2005, at the age of 75.
There will be a memorial service in the sanctuary of Emmanuel Episcopal Parish on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. The service will be followed by a celebration of his life in the Parish Hall, hopefully spilling out onto the lawn if the weather permits. If you knew John, you know he loved a good party, and John wanted a party. Feel free to come to the service, just the party, or both. The family requests memorial donations to Lahari Hospice services on Orcas, PO Box 50, Deer Harbor, WA 98243.
