Jodell Denise McCoy

Jodell Denise McCoy, a 26-year resident of Orcas Island, passed away peacefully at home in Newberg, Oregon with her daughter Keely by her side on Monday, March 13, 2017.

Mom was born in Los Angeles, California on August 30, 1933. She married the love of her life, John Francis McCoy, on New Years Eve 1958. They owned and ran resorts and restaurants. Mom loved cooking in the restaurant. She also enjoyed painting and was able to sell some at the resort. What she loved most was being a mom, a wife, and loving her family as the matriarch of three generations of McCoys. She spent the last year and a half in Newberg, Oregon with Keely. Keely had made a promise to her dad and to God that when the time came she would take care of mom and she courageously did.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband John Francis McCoy in 1996 as well as her granddaughter Brenda White. She is survived by her children Kelly McCoy, Kenny McCoy, Keely McCoy, John McCoy, and Donna McCoy. Grandchildren Jacob White, Rachael White, Jonathan McCoy, Laura McCoy, Brandon McCoy, Katie McCoy, Matthew McCoy and Brian McCoy. Mom is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

There will be a private ceremony with family members. They will be spreading the ashes of mom, dad and Brenda into the Pacific Ocean at Ocean Shores. Donna will bring some ashes back to Orcas to spread the rest here.

RIP mom, you will be greatly missed.
