Charleen Bawden | Passages

Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Charleen “Char” Bawden passed away peacefully in her home with her girls by her side on June 12, 2017 after a courageous and hard-fought four-year battle against pancreatic cancer.

Char was born May 31, 1942 in Seattle, Washington to Chuck and Arlene Ebert and grew up in Marysville, Washington. She attended Marysville High School and graduated in 1960. After high school she went on to college in Pasadena, California, Bellingham, Washington and Everett Business College. After college she was married and had two children while working various jobs throughout her career in business and finance. In 1985 Char remarried and moved to Orcas Island where most recently she and her husband ran their oyster farm, Judd Cove Shellfish. Char will be mostly remembered for her passion and love for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew Charles Ebert and Arlene Cora Ebert and her beloved husband William “Bill” Bawden.

Char is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Lytle, Kathy James-Monson, her step-children Brett (Ursula) Bawden, Kindre (Jeff) Loop, Lori (Frank) Gates and her eight grandchildren, Stephanie Dickerson, Amber Loop, Bryan Rath, Justyn Rath, Taylor Lytle, Shelby Pawliski, Sara Bawden and Clare Bawden.

Memorial services will be held at the Orcas Island Community Church on Madrona Street in Eastsound, Washington on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Immediately following the service there will be a celebration of life held at the Arnt Ranch in Eastsound.
