Wind damage

A 60-foot tall madrona tree fell on Gilbert Blinn’s 8 x 12 foot greenhouse during the windstorm on Dec. 19. The tree was completely uprooted and crashed into a nearby douglas fir tree on its way onto the twin-wall vinyl panel and metal frame greenhouse. The greenhouse, which was not in use at the time, was used by Blinn in the spring and summer to grow tomatoes, peas, beans and strawberries.

“It was close to midnight when we heard the crash,” Blinn said. “The good news is we get some firewood out of it.” Blinn is not planning to rebuild the greenhouse and says anyone interested in salvaging the parts should contact him.
