Whale museum benefit cruise

Squeals and chirps of fishing orca whales will accompany the crew of the sailing vessel Nawalak on Saturday July 25, as Jenny Atkinson, Director of the Whale Museum, leads a group of six donors on a whale sighting and educational cruise.

Atkinson will talk about the life cycle and habits of the huge sea creatures as they chase salmon and interact with each other. The role the Whale Museum and Soundwatch play in education and in assisting whales will be explained. Those aboard will listen to whale vocalizations with the boat hydrophone.

The six hour cruise will board guests in Deer and Roche Harbors at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. A portion of the $135 per person price will be donated to the Whale Museum. Contact Emerald Isle Sailing Charters at 376-3472 for more information.
