The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

June 15

• A deputy on San Juan spoke with a citizen who wanted to report that images were continuing to be implanted into other images on their cellphone. After speaking with the citizen, it was discovered that there was no law enforcement action to be taken.

• A San Juan deputy took a report that three individuals forcibly entered a home under construction and were caught on video. They were identified and contacted. The homeowner did not wish to assist in the prosecution of criminal charges.

• A deputy responded to a littering call about a large bag of garbage that was left on private property on Lopez. The deputy sifted through the garbage and discovered the identity of the owner, who is currently incarcerated. A third party volunteered to assist in moving the garbage.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of someone running a weed wacker too close to the road on a blind corner. When asked, the weed whacker explained they were trying to increase visibility to protect bikers from vehicle travel on the blind corner.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Ridgedale Road for inoperable brake lights. The driver was issued a citation for not having a valid driver’s license with ID and for operating a motor vehicle without valid proof of insurance. They were also issued a warning for the equipment violation.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a complaint of fraud.

• A deputy responded to a 911 hang-up on Lopez and learned the caller accidentally tapped a feature on their Apple watch that dialed dispatch.

• A San Juan deputy took a report from a person who was receiving threatening text messages. Though they declined to pursue charges, the deputy advised the caller could seek an order barring contact.

June 16

• An Orcas deputy booked into evidence as found property an Apple iPod and a set of keys.

• A Lopez resident reported possible traffic violations on MacKaye Harbor Road. Deputies will monitor the area.

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred over a year ago. The incident is currently being investigated.

• A Lopez resident called with concerns about a recently arrested person who lives near them.

• Orcas deputies pulled up a shrimp pot that had gone adrift off the south end of Lopez and contacted the owner.

• A San Juan deputy located a person with an outstanding arrest warrant and took them into custody without incident. They were booked into jail to await a court appearance.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a person in crisis. The person was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

• A caller on Decatur Island accidentally dialed 911. A member of a home owner’s association checked on the caller and confirmed that there was no emergency.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report that a homeowner saw, through surveillance cameras, an unwanted person on their property. A known vehicle was located on the property with no visible occupants. There were no signs of a break-in and the videoed person was not located. Video footage is pending.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a 911 hang-up call. The deputy learned a couple had engaged in a verbal argument, though no criminal activity transpired. The deputy provided one of the parties a courtesy transport to stay with a friend.

June 17

• A county employee turned in a found phone to a Lopez deputy. The owner was located a few days later.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 39 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding and was given warnings for other violations.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a dog bite. The incident was documented and a report was sent to the county’s health department.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of disorderly conduct in Sunshine Alley. A subject known to deputies was yelling loudly and cursing. The person appeared extremely intoxicated and possessed open liquor containers. They were issued a citation for the consumption of alcohol in public.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a juvenile driving a motorcycle. A probable cause statement for not having a valid operator’s license without identification was forwarded to juvenile services.

• Lopez deputies responded to a domestic incidence call. Upon investigation, the conflict was determined to be verbal only.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 42 mph in a 25 miles per hour zone.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a domestic incident on San Juan. The deputy arrived and spoke to the people who were still at the scene, and others were contacted at another location. One person was arrested on multiple charges.

June 18

• A Lopez deputy accepted bail that was posted for an incarcerated person.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a medical call involving an inmate. The inmate refused emergency medical assistance and the incident was documented.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle at Pinneo Road and Orcas Road. The identity of the registered owner was obtained and they were contacted.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a call and observed a person rolling all the way down Spring Street to circle park. Citizens declined to pursue legal action for disorderly conduct, and the roller was advised to stay out of the road.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a person sleeping. The person was later seen walking around not violating any laws.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to an assault callback. It was determined that an assault did not occur.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a downed power line on Watmough Head Road and directed traffic as OPALCO repaired the fallen line.

• A deputy on Orcas took a lost property report.

June 19

• All the deputies on Orcas were dispatched to a call about a person claiming to have a rifle and was going to start kicking in doors and shooting residents and responding officers. The subject was taken into custody without incident. No firearm was located.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of an unwanted person. However, the person was invited onto the premises and was not currently violating any laws.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a call regarding property damage. The stop sign at the intersection of Dolphin Bay and Orcas Road was destroyed and a nearby fence was damaged.

• A deputy was dispatched to a trespassing complaint in the Eastsound area.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a building alarm and discovered an unsecured door. A few people had entered the building to use the bathroom and then left. The deputy secured the door, checked the building and contacted a person with authority of the building.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to an order violation complaint. Upon investigation, the deputy determined there was insufficient probable cause to believe a crime had been committed.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for passing a line of approximately eight cars in a no-passing zone on the blind curve and hill at Tucker Avenue and University Road. The driver was issued a citation for passing in a no-passing zone.

June 21

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a parking problem at The Village Green. The driver had moved their vehicle before the deputy arrived, and they were informed that they could not park their vehicle on the property again.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of animal abuse on a yacht. The yacht was located, and the owner was contacted. The dogs had food and water and were not afraid of the deputy or their owner. They appeared happy and healthy, with no apparent signs of abuse.
