Trespassed trash, distracted driver, disappeared defecator | San Juan County Sheriff’s Log

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

March 25

• A Lopez Village business reported someone had been using their dumpster for household garbage. A report was taken for a theft of services and a possible suspect has been identified for follow-up contact.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle because the owner had warrants for their arrest. The driver was arrested on the warrants and issued citations for not having a valid driver’s license with identification and for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

• A Lopez deputy located the driver of a vehicle reported by a firefighter as a reckless, possibly impaired driver. The driver was not impaired but admitted to looking away and reaching for an item in the car, causing the momentary erratic driving.

• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a callback about some elderly drivers. Information was passed on to contact the Washington Department of Licensing.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a welfare check on Orcas Road near the golf course. The person was contacted, everything was fine and the person was given a ride home.

• A San Juan deputy was asked to conduct a welfare check. After further investigation, the concern was unfounded.

March 26

• Deputies responded to an assault in Eastsound. The suspect was arrested.

• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a welfare check on the island.

• A deputy was dispatched to a citizen assist near Eastsound. Information was given to the reporting party on steps that could be taken.

March 27

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a 911 hang-up call. Young children had taken their parent’s cellphone and were playing with it.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a complaint about trespassing. An investigation determined no trespass had been committed.

• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute. All parties were contacted and a report was completed.

• San Juan deputies responded to a domestic incident. The altercation was found to be verbal only, and parties separated.

March 28

• A deputy responded to a weapons noise complaint in the Deer Harbor area. Nothing was heard when the deputy was in the area and the reporting party did not ask to be called back.

• Lopez deputies investigated a reported incident of domestic violence. A suspect was arrested and transported to Friday Harbor and booked into jail on domestic violence assault charges pending a court appearance.

• A deputy observed an out-of-area suspicious vehicle hanging around Eastsound.

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a theft. The incident was found to be civil.

March 29

• A Lopez resident called about a noise issue from an all-terrain-vehicle. The riders left the area before the deputy arrived.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a single-vehicle collision. There were no injuries and a report was completed.

• A resident on Lopez found a laptop and informed deputies. The owner was located.

• A deputy on San Juan entered found property into evidence.

March 30

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of an unwanted person in the Friday Harbor area. The involved people were contacted and a plan was made.

March 31

• A San Juan deputy responded to a request for a welfare check. The individual was contacted.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a person defecating in public. The suspect was not identified, as he was no longer there when the deputy arrived.
