Dear Students, Families, Staff and Community:
Our school community was saddened to learn of the death of OASIS Teacher, Bruce Orchid. We understand that this news is very difficult for all of us to accept and that we will need to support each other throughout the grieving process.
OISD has arranged to have counselors available to provide additional support to students and faculty during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if we can be of additional assistance to you and/or your child in the wake of this loss to our school and community.
Bruce was an outstanding teacher who cared very deeply about the success and well-being of each and every one of his students. Bruce is pictured below with the award he received from The Washington Association of Learning Alternatives, acknowledging his excellence as a teacher and leader in alternative education. Bruce was an amazing part of our school and community and will be deeply missed.
At this time, we have no information regarding memorial services or other remembrances planned by the family. We will keep you updated as we learn more. Thank you for keeping the Orchid family in your thoughts and prayers as we support them in their grief and loss.
With a heavy heart,
Eric Webb
Superintendent
