Preschoolers and kindergarteners will dance, cook, and learn Spanish at the 13th annual Montessori School Spanish Program this summer.

The students will develop Spanish speaking and comprehension skills utilizing a method called Total Physical Response (TPR).

“TPR is a method based on how we all learned our first language: through listening and responding to meaningful messages,” say organizers. “Emphasis is on understanding what is said rather than repeating words. It is an active, fun approach that appeals to children of all ages.”

The children will also enjoy a variety of art activities, dances, stories and cooking projects. As in past years, the children will grind grain, bake bread and make butter. Each three-week session will end with a special feast and exhibition of the children’s work for the parents.

The program is for children aged 3½ to 6. Children may attend one or both of the three-week sessions, June 20 through July 8, and July 18 through August 5. Tuition for each session is $400 per student. The class will be Monday through Friday mornings from 9-1.
