Stolen car crashes off road

Orcas Fire and Rescue searches for injured at scene of accident on Orcas Road 200 yards from Crow Valley Road this morning.

Emergency medical services and the Sheriff’s office responded to the report of a car off the road on Orcas Road 200 yards from Crow Valley Road this morning at 7:35 a.m. (Saturday).

The blue Audi had been reported stolen earlier that same morning. No one was in the vehicle and a search of the woods by Orcas Fire and Rescue personnel using a thermal imaging camera did not locate anyone. All the windows were intact except for the rear one that had imploded.

“There was no blood or distortion in the vehicle which leads me to believe that there was either no injury or very minor injuries,” said division chief Mik Preysz. “My experience tells me that whomever was in the vehicle was probably under the influence. The car miraculously landed on its wheels. There was no damage to the roof of the car.”

Preysz also said that the engine was cold which led him to believe that the car had been there for a while before a citizen saw it and called.

Sheriff Deputy Jeff Patterson said they were gathering evidence and taking it seriously.

“We did recover evidence,” Patterson said.
