The Vikings golf team hosted Richard Tetu’s Lopez team on a spectacular day to play on April 26.

“On the girl’s side, the Lady Vikings started off slow but finished with scores of 50 for Mia Lewis Shunk, 54 for Zoe Lewis Shunk and a 68 for Emily Toombs,” said Coach Bobby Olmsted. “The scores do not reflect just how well these girls are striking the ball and with a few minor adjustments they will be ready for the re-match against Lopez on Thursday.”

The Lady Vikings remain undefeated.

The boys team has dropped scores every week.

“Rowan Lister led the boy’s team with a 51 with his brother Ewan just behind with a 55,” Olmstead said. “Serei O’Toole had a 59 and Leif Gustafson rounded out the team with a 70.”

Post season play for both teams starts next week.

The Viking baseball team had dominate wins last week, taking Concrete 11-1 and Darrington 16-1 and 14-0 in a double header.

“The Concrete win was a good game for us, the guys played well and everybody did their job,” said Coach Jim Passer. “Only one game versus Darrington was league, but all our pitchers had good work and all our guys got to play.”

The Vikings improve their league record to 6-2 following league leaders Friday Harbor and LaConner, tied at 8-1.

The Lady Vikings softball team lost to the Concrete Lions 9-3 but later in the week won both double header games against the Darrington Loggers, 23-10 and 18-13.

Coach Jason Nichols said both games were hitting exhibitions with Bethany Hansen having an amazing performance in game one going 6/6 with two home runs, a triple and 12 RBI’s.

“Overall we had 36 hits in the first game,” he said. “Obviously the girls did a good job. Game two pretty similar. It was the last home game for seniors Emma Minnis and Emily Nichols and I was very pleased with the way the team was able to send them out on a high note.”

The Vikings have an overall record of 3-4.

The softball and baseball teams both played Friday Harbor on Monday, May 2.
