The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

March 31

• An Orcas deputy responded to a noise complaint in Eastsound. An investigation was conducted.

• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a call about found drugs. An analysis of the item determined it was not drugs, and the items was placed into the property room for disposal.

• San Juan deputies received a call that a neighbor was harassing animals. All parties were contacted, and the complaint was investigated. A report was filed documenting the incident, but no crimes were committed.

• A San Juan deputy observed someone with a suspended driver’s license driving a vehicle. The deputy turned around but the driver exited their vehicle before the deputy pulled into their driveway. The driver refused to answer their door and the report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

• San Juan deputies responded to a request to trespass an individual from a local business. The person was served a notice that he was barred from the premises.

• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding 58 mph in a 35 mph on Orcas Road. The driver was subsequently issued a citation.

• An Orcas deputy secured a found cellphone.

April 1

• A deputy responded to an agency assist call involving Compass Health. The deputy provided the assistance requested and completed a report.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a harassment order violation. Charges were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a theft call. A large piece of pipe was taken off of private property. An investigation was conducted. The following day, the reporting party informed the deputy that the missing pipe had been anonymously returned during the night. There are currently no suspects.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a theft call. Lumber was taken from a business. An investigation was conducted. The following day, the person in question returned to the store and returned the wood. The situation was a miscommunication between the customer, the storefront, and the yard workers.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for not having a turn signal, for following too closely, and passing in a no-passing zone on Second Street. The driver was issued citations for not having insurance and for passing in a no-passing zone.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a vandalism. There are no suspects or workable leads at this time.

• A San Juan deputy observed a vehicle pass multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone. The driver was issued a citation for illegally passing on the left.

• San Juan deputies responded to a request for a welfare check. The involved party had been trespassed from the property. They did not need assistance and moved along. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

April 2

• A deputy responded to an unattended death near Eastsound. The person appeared to have died of natural causes, and a report was filed.

• An Orcas deputy investigated a theft from a local business. The suspect was arrested and a report was completed.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident with injuries. The elderly occupant was transported to the emergency room for treatment and a report was made.

• Orcas deputies responded to a missing person call. It was determined that the subject is missing from another state and a missing person’s report was taken. The investigation is ongoing.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a littering complaint.

• A Lopez vehicle was ticket for a 72-hour parking violation on Tower Drive.

• San Juan deputies took a report of harassment. The investigation is ongoing.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle as the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested and booked into jail for driving with a suspended license – third degree and for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of an animal bite at Peace Medical Center. The involved party had received a minor laceration from a bite received by their own animal.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a domestic call. Upon investigation, the conflict was determined to be non-criminal.

• An Orcas deputy investigated a report of stolen street sign named Freedom Trail from the 400 block of Pt. Lawrence Rd. The investigation continues.

April 3

• A San Juan deputy responded to a reoccurring dog-at-large complaint. The owner of the dog was issued a citation.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a single vehicle vs. a fire hydrant. The driver was issued citations for not having insurance, for defective tires, and for having wheels off the roadway. The passenger was issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt.

• A driver on Lopez received a warning for not flagging a projecting load.

• A Lopez deputy took a report of a missing dingy from Fisherman Bay that had apparently drifted off during the night.

April 4

• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident near Deer Harbor. There were no injuries and both vehicles had to be towed.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a suspended driver. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license-third degree and for an ignition interlock violation.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 70 mph in a 35 miles per hour zone.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a welfare check. After speaking with the subject it was determined they did not meet the criteria to be placed into protective custody.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 45 mph in a 25 miles per hour zone.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a possible domestic dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined to be a verbal argument between a landlord and tenant.

April 5

• In Friday Harbor, a deputy notice damage to his vehicle.

• A deputy was dispatched to an agency assist in the San Juan area. The reporting deputy arrived and assisted another agency on the scene. The reporting deputy found no criminal activity occurred at the time.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to an animal noise complaint.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a driver with a suspended license. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license-third degree and was issued a citation for failing to sign the registration.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a harassment callback.

• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of an attempted fraud. The complainant stated there were unsuccessful attempts to open credit in his name by an unknown person and no monetary loss was incurred. Complainant requested a report to provide to the credit agencies.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of trespassing. The subject will be issued a trespass notice for the property.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist in the 3000 block of Roche Harbor Road for speeding. The driver was cited for driving 58 mph in a 45 mph zone and for not having evidence of insurance.

• A San Juan deputy was contacted in reference to a citizen dispute. The person was having difficulties dealing with a landlord/family member. The reporting deputy provided information.

• An Orcas deputy turned found keys over to the post office.

• A deputy was dispatched to trespassing on San Juan. The deputy arrived and contacted a person who was confused. The person was transported for evaluation.

April 6

• San Juan deputy responded to a report of a phone found at South Beach. The owner was not located and the phone was entered into evidence.

• A deputy was dispatched to a theft report in the Eastsound area. The investigation is ongoing.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of a credit card fraud. The investigation is ongoing.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a dog-at-large complaint. The dog didn’t have a license or any owner’s information attached to it, and was taken to the animal shelter.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 56 mph in a 35 miles per hour zone.

• The reporting deputy was dispatched to a parking problem in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy located a vehicle parked in a marked construction zone. After attempting to locate owner, vehicle was impounded.
