SJC Sheriff’s log

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Sept. 24

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a found property incident at a business in Eastsound. The found property was taken and submitted to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Property Division. The incident was documented.

• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road that had expired tabs. The driver was subsequently issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license and failure to transfer a vehicle title within 45 days, and an infraction for not having insurance.

Sept. 25

• A deputy was dispatched to a trespassing in the San Juan Island area. An organization was requesting that a trespass warning letter be issued to a person. The letter was prepared. The letter was served to the person. A report was taken.

• A San Juan deputy observed someone with a local warrant driving. The deputy stopped the vehicle, and the individual was arrested and booked into jail.

Sept. 26

• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a single-vehicle collision. The driver was uninjured and arranged for the removal of the vehicle.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a non-injury collision in the Eastsound area. The driver lost control of their vehicle and drove off the road into a ditch. The vehicle was towed, and the incident was documented.

• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a notice of infraction for speeding, 35 mph in Moran State Park, which is a 25 mph zone.

• A resident of Orcas Island reported having been assaulted by an employee at a local business. The incident was documented in a report per the complainant’s request. The complainant did not wish to pursue criminal charges.

Sept. 27

• A deputy was dispatched to a harassment call in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy arrived and contacted the caller. The caller was having problems with a neighbor. The incident was not criminal. The caller was provided with several civil solutions.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of trespassing at a local building. An individual was issued a criminal citation for trespass in the first degree.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a civil incident in the West Sound area. The deputy learned that the incident was a landlord-tenant issue. The deputy provided resources and explained that the matter would be addressed through the civil process. The incident was documented.

• A San Juan deputy conducted an investigation of an order violation involving phone calls from an out-of-county inmate to a protected person. The deputy forwarded charges for 13 counts of violating a domestic violence protection order.

• An Orcas Island deputy conducted a traffic stop for a driver who was speeding 38 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone on Olga Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speed.

Sept. 29

• Orcas Island deputies were dispatched to a citizen assist call. An informational report was completed.

• A deputy on San Juan Island took a report of a missing person. The person was reportedly in Friday Harbor for a brief period of time without many belongings. The person then left without saying anything. The individual was entered as missing, and a report was completed.

Sept. 30

• Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a trespassing complaint. Two trespass warning letters were issued. The incident was documented.

• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a notice of infraction for speeding, 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.
