‘Simply Ballroom’ brings dancing stars to Orcas

The Utah Ballroom Dance Company is coming to Orcas Center with its award-winning showcase “Simply Ballroom” on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Audiences will be treated to breath-taking lifts, beautiful costumes, captivating theatrical story lines and a variety of ballroom dances.

Dances include the American foxtrot to Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain,” the Spanish Paso Doble to the music from “The Legend of Zorro,” the Austrian Waltz to “Moon River,” the Latin Samba of Brazil, the rhythmical Cha Cha from Cuba, and more.

“The Simply Ballroom stage production has magnificent and scintillating choreography from some of the top ballroom dancers in the world,” say organizers.

The Utah Ballroom Dance Company is the United States National Formation Champion in both Latin American and Standard Ballroom dancing for 2009-2010 and Simply Ballroom features the two medleys that won them the championships. They have toured throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Latin America, receiving numerous accolades for their performances.  The company maintains a touring program that typically reaches more than 75 cities across the United States and abroad.
