Sidney, B.C. sailings return on March 30

Spring ferry schedule announced

Ferry service between Sidney, B.C. and Anacortes resumes Sunday, March 30 with the release of the WSDOT Ferries Division spring sailing schedule. The spring schedule also includes more hours of service than the winter schedule.

An informal day of celebration is planned for the reopening of the Anacortes/Sidney, BC route, which will feature one round trip sailing per day, on Sunday, March 30. The celebration event will be hosted by the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, the Sidney Business Association and the Anacortes and Sidney Sister Cities Association, and WSDOT, and will feature marching bands and town criers. A member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will meet the first sailing, which departs from Anacortes at 7:45 a.m. and arrives in Sidney at 10:50 a.m.

The spring schedule includes the following other changes:

· Resumes weekend inter-island service in the San Juan Islands.

· Restores eight hours of mid-day service Monday through Thursday between Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.

The spring schedule is in effect through June 21, 2008.
