Wednesday, July 20

• A Friday Harbor resident reported his Facebook account had been hacked by a female subject who has a restraining order against him.

• A deputy found an unoccupied vehicle running on the side of the roadway on Orcas Island. The vehicle was secured and the owner was located the following day. No crime occurred.

• A Lopez Island deputy took custody of a dog running along Ferry Road. The dog was placed in the kennel, and Lopez Animal Protection Society was notified. Messages were left for the owner that the dog is in custody. A warning letter was sent to the owner.

•A deputy was dispatched to a non-injury collision. It was later found that the vehicle was taken without permission and left in a ditch in Friday Harbor. There are no suspects or further information at this time.

• A Lopez Island deputy was sent with EMS to the Hunter Bay dock on a report of a vessel bringing a person experiencing a medical emergency. The vessel’s captain decided to go to the mainland directly.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a theft of a package. Currently there are no suspects in the theft.

• A large group of about eight on private property (without invitation) was advised of open container of alcohol laws. There were no signs of drug use. They were asked to move to the public property side of beach. Everyone was cooperative and polite except for one subject.

• At 5:40 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the area of North Beach in regard to a possible DUI. The vehicle was located nearby. A subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was impounded because the subject had a suspended license.

Thursday, July 21

• Deputies were dispatched to a report of assault in Friday Harbor. The suspect was arrested for assault in the fourth degree and was released with a court date.

• A subject with a warrant turned herself in at the Orcas Substation. The subject posted bail and was released with a court date.

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor, and the driver was issued an infraction for speeding.

• At about 4 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to an Eastsound residence in regard to suspicious circumstances of someone entering the home, leaving an item on the floor and leaving without owner permission. No suspects known at this time.

• A deputy spoke with a Lopez Island resident regarding a possible telephone scam involving a person claiming to work for the U.S. Census Bureau. The deputy determined the incident was most likely not a scam. The deputy advised the reporting person to not provide personal information over the phone.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a dog at large. The dog did not have any identifying marks and it was unknown who the dog belonged to. The dog was taken to the shelter.

• A deputy was dispatched to an Eastsound residence in regards to a high loss credit card fraud and a check forgery case by a family member. A report was taken and the case is referred to detectives.

• Deputies responded to a residence in Friday Harbor to investigate a domestic disturbance.

Friday, July 22

• A suspicious person was seen in the early morning inside the common area of the Eastsound Post Office. The person’s identity is unknown at this time. The investigation continues.

• A deputy was dispatched to a civil dispute on Friday Harbor. Both parties were contacted and will be going through civil court to handle the matter.

• A Lopez deputy received a report of a vessel moored on a private buoy. Attempts to locate the vessel owner are ongoing.

• A deputy responded to a reported burglary at a residence on Orcas Island. Tools had been stolen from a garage. The investigation continues.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a report of wedding rings found in the village. A possible owner was contacted.

• Marine patrol deputies stopped a vessel in Spieden Channel just outside Roche Harbor for carrying passengers in an unsafe manner. They were warned for that violation as well as expired vessel registration. A vessel inspection was completed.

Saturday,July 23

• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist for speeding on Mud Bay Road and issued her a ticket.

• A deputy responded to a report of trespass and theft that occurred at an Orcas Island residence. Upon further investigation it was determined that a portable generator had been stolen from a tool shed.

• A deputy stopped a motorist on Lopez Island and issued him a ticket after he saw him driving while not wearing his seatbelt.

• A Lopez deputy issued a ticket to a motorist after he saw him speeding on Hummel Lake Road.

• Lopez Island deputies responded to a brief open 911 call. The source of the call, a cell phone, could not be located after several area residents were contacted. No problem was discovered.

• Deputies responded to a reporting party stating that an unknown person had removed a C-PAP machine from the trunk of their car between Anacortes, Wash., and Kenmore, Wash.

• Lopez Island EMS personnel returned from an emergency call to find a vehicle blocking the bay doors of the main fire station. A deputy was called, who found the owner of the car at the library. The car was moved by the owner.

• A deputy issued a motorist a ticket after he saw him riding a motorcycle while not wearing a helmet in the 300 block of Port Stanley Road on Lopez Island.

Sunday, July 24

• Parking citations were issued at the Obstruction Pass boat ramp on Orcas.

• A Lopez Island man reported that his neighbor’s dogs were chasing deer. The dogs were identified and a warning letter was issued to the owner.

• A child was bitten on the hand by a dog tied up in front of the Island Market in Eastsound. The female owner left immediately with the dog and did not identify herself. Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office, so deputies can confirm the Australian shepherd has a current rabies shot.

• A deputy responded to a reported theft at the Turtleback Trailhead parking area in Eastsound. Person(s) unknown smashed the window of a vehicle and took the victim’s purse from the vehicle. The case is under further investigation.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a report of vandalism. The reporting party identified a possible suspect, but did not want charges pursued.

Monday, July 25

• In Friday Harbor a subject was briefly going to his boat and left his wallet on the dash of his unlocked car. When he returned it was gone. There are no suspects at this time. There was no cash or identification in the wallet and the credit cards have been cancelled.

• A Lopez Island deputy investigated a traffic complaint from bicyclists who reported a driver travelling at an unsafe speed. The vehicle left the area before the deputy arrived.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for an unwanted person at a residence. The subject had left, but was located at the ferry landing. The subject was warned not to return and left on the ferry.

Tuesday, July 26

• A woman reported that a dresser had been taken from outside her Orcas Island home while in the process of moving in. The investigation continues.

• A Lopez Island deputy contacted a group of boaters at the Mackaye Harbor Boat Ramp. Three vessel safety inspections were conducted.

• A deputy issued a ticket to a motorist after he failed to dim his high beams as he was driving toward the deputy in the 500 block of Port Stanley Road, Lopez Island.

• At 10:19 p.m., a deputy responded to Spring Street on Friday Harbor. Upon arrival he was advised of a possible sexual assault which had been disclosed by the reporting party earlier in the day. The investigation continues.
