Sheriff’s Log

March 15

• A Lopez deputy was asked to verify whether an out-of-state vehicle was located on Lopez for that state’s administrative purposes. The affidavit provided was completed as requested.

• An Orcas Island resident reported a trespasser and theft at his property. The investigation continues.

• A Shaw Islander reported being a victim of identity theft and fraud. An investigation is ongoing.

• An Orcas Island resident reported two German Shepherds chasing a deer through her property. She later discovered 15 of her chickens were missing. The dogs left the area prior to the deputy’s arrival. The dogs’ owner is unknown at this time.

March 16

• An Orcas Island resident reported harassment by neighbors.

• A woman brought a firearm to the sheriff’s office that she found while going through boxes after a move. The firearm does not belong to her.

• A deputy responded to a report of a harassment complaint in Eastsound. A report was taken and the reporting party was given information on what actions can be taken.

March 17

• Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Orcas. After parties were interviewed it was confirmed that it was only a verbal confrontation. Those involved were separated for the night.

March 18

• A deputy responded to a report of a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the San Juan Island area. The deputy contacted the driver and the driver was arrested, processed for DUI and released on a citation.

• A deputy was dispatched to the Friday Harbor area to investigate a death. The deputy arrived and contacted the involved parties. The investigation continues.

• Lopez deputies received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle could not be found and the investigation is ongoing.

March 19

• Deputies responded to Front Street in Friday Harbor for a verbal domestic dispute. Deputies found the dispute to be verbal only and a male subject decided he would leave the area to avoid conflict.

• Lopez deputies were dispatched for a welfare check on a subject believed to be suicidal. The subject was located and found not to be an imminent threat to self or others.

March 20

• A deputy was dispatched to a hit-and-run incident in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy contacted the caller and took evidence from his vehicle. The investigation continues.

March 21

• A Lopez deputy responded to a complaint of damaged property. The deputy decided this was a landlord-tenant dispute. Civil remedies were discussed, and an information report was taken.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a juvenile runaway. The guardian of the juvenile filled out a runaway report and the juvenile was entered into the system as a runaway.
