With school out, summer arriving and the onset of the tourist season, traffic concerns and traffic safety becomes an issue for our island communities, said Sheriff Rob Nou in a recent press release.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up enforcement to keep people safe with specific emphasis on impaired drivers, speeding drivers, distracted drivers (cell phones), and unrestrained occupants of motor vehicles.

“We will be working hard to keep our islands safe and to prevent a tragedy,” said Nou.
