“San Juan County is small, but tops in turnout!” declares the headline in today’s Seattle PI story.

The county’s recent 69.55 percent voter turnout was apparently the highest turnout rate seen by any county in the state for the November election.

“The San Juan Islands are liberal isles,” the article says, “known for turning thumbs-down on Tim Eyman initiatives and giving higher vote percentages to Democrats than even King County.”

Other counties with high voter turnouts included Lincoln County, at 64.57 percent, Columbia, at 63.54 percent, and Garfield, at 63.87 percent – all in Eastern Washington.
