Join SAFE San Juans (formerly DVSAS) at free public events in October in honor of Domestic Violence Action Month.

• Walk among the silent witnesses on the Village Green. Each witness represents a man, woman or child killed in Washington this year by a family member or partner.

• Visit the book display at the Orcas Library.

• Oct. 8, 2 p.m., Emmanuel Episcopal Church, staged reading of original play “Carried by the Current.” Meet the director and writer. For ages 12 and over.

• Oct. 19, 12pm, Village Green, participate in the Silent Witness vigil for domestic violence victims and their families.
