The Moran Mansion at Rosario Resort & Spa will be lit up with spectacular holiday trees during the month of December, decorated by seven local non-profit organizations.
Sponsored by the resort, the Festival of Trees is designed to be a fundraiser during this holiday season for participating organizations, including Friends of Moran, The Funhouse, Kaleidoscope, OPAL Community Land Trust, Orcas Island Choral Society, Orcas Island Education Foundation and Orcas Island Fire & Rescue.
“The participating organizations are excited about this opportunity,” said Jenole Peacock, the event organizer. “Kaleidoscope and The Funhouse have adorable decorations made by the kids! Parents won’t want to miss seeing the results of these young island artists.”
The stars on the Orcas Island Education Foundation tree were also designed by Orcas School K-12 students, organized by local artist Brook Meinhardt.
The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite tree by purchasing voting tickets for $1 apiece. Each organization will receive the voting dollars, with the top three voted trees winning additional cash donations from Rosario Resort.
All voter tickets will also be entered into a raffle to win prizes, including two round-trip tickets from Orcas Island to Seattle on Kenmore Air, including a two-night hotel stay, dinner for two at The Mansion Restaurant, and a two-month spa pass.
“We hope everyone will come to Rosario throughout the giving month of December for a festive atmosphere, to view beautifully decorated trees, to support local non-profits, and to possibly win great prizes,” said Peacock. “It’s important that everyone vote for their favorite trees, as Rosario will also award cash donations to the top three voted trees.”
The Moran Mansion is open daily from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Visitors can purchase tickets at the Rosario front desk before touring the tree display. A special open house will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, from noon to 5 p.m., with complimentary hot apple cider and cookies available.
