Library staff will share information about the proposed 3500 square foot building addition on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Friends of Orcas Island Library Winter Book Sale at the Orcas School cafeteria. The presentation will include drawings and handouts. It is a chance for community members to ask questions and offer feedback.

Monday, Feb. 23

There will be a public disclosure forum hosted jointly by San Juan County and the Town of Friday Harbor. Topics include the Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA), Appearance of Fairness Doctrine, Public Records, Record Retention, and other information for public agencies. This free workshop is open to the public; reservations are strongly encouraged. The times are: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., San Juan County Legislative Hearing Room, 55 Second Street and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Fire District #3 Training Room, 1011 Mullis Street. The Orcas Island Fire Department will have a work session from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Eastsound station.

Weds., Feb. 25

County Council Members Richard Fralick, District 4, Orcas West, Gene Knapp, District 5, Orcas East and County Administrator Pete Rose are holding a town hall meeting at the Eastsound Fire Station from 4 to 6 p.m. An open questions and answers forum will follow a short informational presentation on current county issues.

County Council Member Bob Myhr will be at the Lopez Library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for a discussion of local and county Issues, including county budget, Critical Areas Ordinance, Stormwater Ordinance, Puget Sound Partnership, Lopez UGA, Odlin South protection, Fisherman Bay Road Plan, referendum issues, ferries, and other current issues.

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will meet from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room, Legislative Bldg. 55 Second St., Friday Harbor.
