Protest over Mueller report

Activists on Orcas Island are joining more than 200 groups around the country to respond to U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s resistance to meet the April 2 Congressional deadline for production of the full, unredacted Mueller Report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The local action will take place 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in downtown Eastsound at the corners of N. Beach Rd., and Main St.

“Nobody Is Above The Law,” is an alliance of progressive and rights organizations such as MoveOn, Common Cause, People for the American Way, Public Citizen and Indivisible.

The protest on Orcas, and around the country, is designed to show support for transparency in the investigative process that is looking at Russian influence in federal government. The action was prompted by one of the four “triggers” set by the coalition: 1) the firing Mueller, or 2) the pardons of key witnesses, or 3) any actions that would prevent the investigation from being conducted freely, or 4) the administration blocking the public from seeing Mueller’s findings.

Local activists will join tens of thousands of others in their support of the Rule of Law and the Constitutional guarantees of checks and balances.

The April 4 action is open to the public and is wheelchair accessible.
