Early this morning, power was rerouted to downtown Eastsound, including the stores and schools. Orcas Public School was closed today; however, the Christian school was open.

According to an update posted on OPALCO’s website at 4 p.m., work crews have replaced most of the downed poles on Shaw. Approximately seven poles were downed. Restoration was slow-going as the crews faced wet and debris ridden working conditions.

OPALCO estimates the transmission cables should be reconnected around 9 p.m., and power restored shortly thereafter. They expect to have another update available at 8 p.m.
