Passengers survive after plane goes down off Blakely Island

A 911 transfer from Skagit County came into the Sheriff’s Office of a possible plane in the water off the south end of Blakely Island on April 11 at 4:38 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office, San Juan Fire, San Juan EMS, Orcas Fire and Rescue along with the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the area it was reported the plane went down. Both occupants were able to get out of the plane and safely made it to shore where they were transported via Airlift to a hospital on the mainland. At this time the plane has not been located or recovered.
