Many Eastsound businesses are excited to show off the amazing talents of local artists, in the form of fabulous painted cat and dog sculptures, all to benefit the Orcas Animal Shelter. These beautiful works of art will be on display in Eastsound from Aug. 29 to Sept. 15. Pick up your map showing the location of all the pets, and information on the artists, at the following businesses displaying a Painted Pet sculpture: Pawki’s for Pets, Jillery, Village Stop, Waterfront Gallery, Orcas Machine Quilting, Eastsound Wine and Liquor, Orcas Outfitters, Monkey Puzzle and Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce.

Don’t miss your chance to take one of these stunning pieces of art home. Each business displaying a Painted Pet will have a silent auction sheet available for you to place your bid on your favorite pet. Bidding will close on September 15th, when the winners will be announced.

For a $10 donation your family can pick up the Treasure Map and Clue Sheet at the shelter’s tent at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Sept. 3. If you find all the answers to the clues, and return the clue sheet, you will have a chance to be the lucky winner of $100.

Enjoy the creativity of local artists Annie Forsythe, Willie Williams, Paula Capitano, Heather Malone, Susan Kreiger, Barbara Gourley, Barbara Wixom, Heather Dent and Sadie Bailey. All donated their time and talent painting and even quilting the fiberglass dog and cat forms. All the forms are sealed and can be enjoyed as garden art, on a front porch or inside to keep you company.

The unpainted animal forms were paid for by both business and private sponsors. Signage by each Painted Pet will indicate the artist and sponsor.
