Hearts and Hands has been even more active since joining the Senior Center in January of this year.

They have six new volunteers and four new recipients. In true Orcas tradition, community members are coming forth to help their neighbors by sharing their time in friendly conversation, light housekeeping, providing transportation, shopping and errands. Very often having someone to help in these simple tasks is the key factor in allowing our elderly to live independent, healthy lives in their own home.

As more calls for help come in, they need more volunteers. There will be a Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. at the Senior Center.
