This fall the Orcas Montessori School is selling apple crisps hand-made from organic apples grown in the school’s historic orchard.
“Orcas Islanders are in for a sweet treat!” organizers say of the fundraiser. “The apple crisps contain all organic ingredients, from the butter and oats to the sugar and cinnamon as well as the bountiful harvest of the school’s one hundred year old trees.”Proceeds from the sale go to the school’s Appleseed Fund and used to match donations by community members to support students needing financial aid.
“With a record number of families needing help to keep their children in school, this year’s sale is vital,” organizers say. The crisps are sold frozen and ready to bake for $16 each. They can be purchased directly from the school by calling 376-5350. They also will be available on Nov. 19 at the school’s Island Market crisp and wreath sale.
