Orcas school district accepts construction bid

The Orcas Island School Board accepted a bid from Tiger Construction for its levy-funded updates and remodels.

During a special meeting on Dec. 18, the district heard bids from three contractors. Tiger Construction will be renovating the old gym, prepping the fields for the new track, adding curbs and fencing and building a multi-purpose room. Construction will begin in February and conclude in October.

The district is exploring the pricing options of a track surface through a KCDA contract (the prep and sub base are included in the bid awarded to Tiger Construction). The projects that were removed from this bid package, including high school mechanical upgrades, pathways and road improvements, will be bid as a separate package in mid- to late-January.

“The district is excited to work once again with Tiger Construction and is looking forward to the changes and improvements this bond will make to the old gym and fields as well as a new multi-purpose room for our students, staff, and community,” Superintendent Eric Webb said in a press release about the project.
