Gary Hundwin, 28 years old, was found unresponsive in his bed on the morning of Dec. 20.

Paramedics declared the Eastsound resident deceased after responding to his roommate’s 911 call around 10:30 a.m. According to Sheriff Bill Cumming, detectives from Friday Harbor and the county corner conducted an investigation and determined foul play was not involved. The case is still open.

“Initial information is that the victim may have been intoxicated from the night before, and drugs may or may not have been involved,” Cumming said. “Results from the toxicology screening will take a few weeks.”
