July 23 through 30 the Orcas Island Fire and Rescue responded to: one illegal burn, two small lightning strike wildland fires, a couple of fire checks, three reports of possible fire due to hazy air, a report of leaking propane (which turned out to be methane from an over-heated septic tank system), four alarm activations, plus four fall injuries, three general medical emergencies and three patient assists. Two medical calls resulted in AirLift NW transports and one by personal boat off-island to Island Hospital.
