Orcas Choral Society board announces search for director

Catherine Pederson has served as the artistic and musical director of the Orcas Choral Society since 1976. After a long tenure, she is retiring at the end of the 2009-2010 performance season.

The Orcas Choral Society is composed of approximately 60 adult singers who meet weekly for rehearsals. Pederson and Louellen McCoy founded the Orcas Choral Society in 1976.

Although members are not required to audition, members must meet the musical standards of the director. Performances include the holiday concert in December, the school benefit concert in March, and the spring concert in May. Other musical opportunities for the group have included special concerts, memorial observances, combining voices with other musical groups in unique performances, workshops, and occasional off-island travel.
