On Saturday June 13, The Funhouse’s Boys Cross Country Team took part in the “Human Race,” a 5k run benefiting Whatcom County non-profits. Jordan Randolf took first place in the 12-and-under division with a time of 23 minutes, one second. Second place went to Miles Harlow, who was less than a second behind, at 23.10, in a photo finish.
A moment behind Randolf and Harlow was Aiden Kruse, who took fourth in the division with a time of 26:10.
The rest of the team, Mackie Cardinell and Coach Pete Moe, Funhouse director, finished together in 35 minutes flat.
Randolf was awarded a gift package from Bellingham retailer Fairhaven Runners and a blue ribbon for his first place finish. Harlow took home the second-place red.
For seven years, The Funhouse has sponsored the ‘Girls On The Run’ program. This year the girls team, with more than 15 members, took part in the Bellingham “Sea To Ski” race. Julie Brunner-Gaydos and Laura Travellian coach the girls.
This is the first year that a boys running team was fielded.
