The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Dec. 10
• A deputy received a report from the Port of Friday Harbor wanting to trespass people from the port property. Trespass letters were issued.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to an abandoned vehicle at a San Juan County Conservation Land Bank property. A request to tow the vehicle was sent to San Juan County Public Works. The incident was documented.
• A citizen reported finding a human body in the water. This case is still under investigation.
• Deputies on San Juan Island responded in the sheriff’s boat to a report of a second expired individual in the water. The individual was located and recovered from the water. A report was completed.
• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a vehicle in the 4500 block of Center Road. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speeding 40 mph in a posted 20 mph school speed zone.
• Lopez Island deputies and Lopez Island Fire & EMS were dispatched to an accident injury in the 2300 block of Center Road. The incident was documented.
• At approximately 15:49 hours, deputies on San Juan Island took a report of a theft of someone illegally dumping trash on a local resident’s property. Deputies contacted the property owner, and an informational report was generated.
Dec. 11
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a domestic incident. This report is for information only.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to an unwanted person near the Killebrew Lake area. The subject was issued a no trespass warning letter, and they promised not to trespass. The incident was documented.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a hit-and-run incident that occurred on North Beach Road. A truck backed into a delivery van and drove off. No damage was done. Deputies were unable to identify the truck or its driver. A report was made.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a concern about a resident’s mental health and concern of potential harm. Deputies spoke with the man, who denied any intent of harm. A report was made.
Dec. 12
• San Juan Island deputies responded to a theft call. A local woman reported that a package was stolen from her mailbox. A report was taken.
• San Juan Island deputies responded to a theft call. A local woman reported that an outgoing envelope was stolen from her mailbox. A report was taken.
• A Lopez resident reported what they believed was harassment. No crime occurred, and the person was referred to civil court options.
• San Juan Island deputies responded to a theft call. A local man reported that five packages were stolen from his and his wife’s mailbox. A report was taken.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a parking problem on Haven Road. The Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain approval from the property owner to remove a vehicle from the road. The incident was documented.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a harassment incident near downtown Eastsound. The subject of the incident had been drinking and acting suspiciously toward a juvenile in public. The incident was documented.
Dec. 13
• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a vehicle driving into oncoming traffic. The suspected driver was contacted, and a driver evaluation request was submitted to the DOL.
• A vehicle ran over a stop sign at Old Post Road and Lopez Road. The case is under investigation, and any further information would be appreciated.
• A Lopez deputy was contacted about a fence line dispute. Both parties were advised to follow the existing survey in this civil matter.
• San Juan Island deputies responded to a local residence for a call about an unwanted person on their property. A report was taken. A trespass warning letter will be served to the subject.
• A deputy on Orcas Island was assigned a suspicious call relating to an incident that occurred on an outer island. The incident was documented at the complainant’s request.
• San Juan Island deputies responded to a citizen’s concerns about weapon noise. The deputies are familiar with the property in question, know it’s legal and know that those involved take proper safeguards. We contacted the citizen and explained the same.
• Deputies in Friday Harbor responded to a weapons offense at a local business. Deputies contacted the individual who left the property on their own volition.
• Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic dispute. There was insufficient evidence to believe a crime had been committed. The involved parties were offered local resources.
Dec. 14
• Lopez Island deputies were dispatched to Decatur Island for various VIN inspections. The incident was documented.
Dec. 15
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a person having a mental health episode.
• A Lopez resident reported the theft of a package from the area of Biggs Lane at the beginning of December.
• A deputy on Orcas Island received a call about a person who was trespassed from a business.
• Deputies on Orcas responded to a landlord/tenant dispute.
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a domestic incident. This report is for information only.
Dec. 16
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a domestic incident. This report is for information only.
• An Orcas Island man was arrested for a court arrest warrant in Friday Harbor. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and booked into jail pending a hearing with the judge.
• A Lopez Island deputy stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Fisherman Bay Road and Redgate Lane. The driver was subsequently issued an infraction for speeding 41 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a vehicle theft. The vehicle was located occupied, and the suspect was arrested for vehicle theft. The suspect was booked into the San Juan County Jail.
• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a vandalism complaint. The investigation is ongoing.
• Lopez Island deputies were dispatched to a report of a non-aggravated assault. An investigation occurred, and the incident was documented.
