Scientists will gather at Rosario Resort to dialogue about marine geological and biological habitat mapping on early May.
The focus of the conference, GeoHab 2012, is the development of new methodologies to map the marine environment to support sustainable ocean management. The conference is hosted by the locally based SeaDoc Society/Tombolo and the Geological Survey of Canada.
Conference Themes:
· Habitat Characterization and Mapping of Coastal and Inland Seas
· Habitat Maps for Managers
· Forage Fish Habitats
· Habitats at Renewable Energy Sites
· Advances in Technology and Methodology for Mapping Habitats
GeoHab 2012 welcomes oral and poster presentations relevant to research and applications associated with marine benthic habitat mapping. Exhibitors are also welcome (contact Gary Greene at tombolo@centurytel.net for further information).
GeoHab (Marine Geological and Biological Habitat Mapping) was established in 2001 to bring together scientists from around the world working on the development of new thematic maps linking acoustic mapping and geological sampling to marine biology in a Geographical Information System environment to underpin sustainable ocean management.
