Man from British Columbia charged with assault

Donnelly allegedly punched another man repeatedly causing wounds to his head and face.

Tylor Sean Donnelly, 37, of Chilliwack, British Columbia has been charged with assault in the second degree and assault in the fourth degree following an incident near the boat dock at Fossil Bay on Sucia Island on Aug. 25. He was released on bail, which was set at $25,000. His arraignment in San Juan County Superior Court is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m.

Donnelly allegedly punched another man repeatedly, causing wounds to his head and face. The victim told the responding deputy that he and Donnelly were discussing business, specifically tax evasion, when Donnelly all of sudden began punching the victim in the face. In a written report, the victim’s wife said that the punching began without warning. She told the deputy that she stepped in and tried to shield her husband from the abuse. Donnelly allegedly struck the woman during this time.

The male victim was assessed at the scene by Orcas EMS then transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham, where he received stitches.

When asked about the incident by deputies at the scene, Donnelly admitted to having hit the victim but could not recall what had made him begin the assault. The deputy’s report states that Donnelly appeared to be intoxicated and smelled of intoxicants. Once placed under arrest, the deputy stated that Donnelly began denying that he had struck the victim.

Donnelly was charged with assault in the second degree for the initial attack on the victim and assault in fourth degree for striking the victim’s wife when she tried to intervene.
