July 19, 1922 – September 16, 2008 LaVerne Miller

LaVerne “Pinky” Miller was born on July 19, 1922 in LaMesa, Calif. and died on Sept. 16, 2008 at Orcas Loving Care Adult Family Home. He had Alzheimers’ disease for many years.

LaVerne “Pinky” Miller was born on July 19, 1922 in LaMesa, Calif. and died on Sept. 16, 2008 at Orcas Loving Care Adult Family Home. He had Alzheimers’ disease for many years.

Pinky owned property on Orcas since 1953 and retired here in 1982. He worked at the Boeing Company for 40 years.

During World War II, he served three years in the Navy.

Pinky is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan, a daughter Karen Doph (Steve), a son Mark (Lijuan), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and four nieces and their families.

There will be a joint memorial service at Orcas Island Community Church on Nov. 1 for Pinky and his sister-in-law Shirley Dever. The time will be announced at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the Animal Protection Society of Orcas.
