Inter-island ferry service disrupted

Inter-island ferry service was disrupted yesterday with the Evergreen out of service.

Washington State Ferries reported Wednesday night that the Elwha would be back on schedule by the 8 p.m. sailing from Friday Harbor.

Today, the Hiyu began providing inter-island service beginning with the 6:10 a.m. departure from Friday Harbor.

At 7:37 a.m. this morning, the Hiyu was running one hour late.

According to WSF customer information manager Susan Harris, the Evergreen had an electrical problem, a part was flown to the San Juans in an attempt to fix it, but the ferry needs more attention.

Harris complimented the terminal agents on moving people and boats around during the disruption and noted the Hiyu has had recent “facelift.”
