Household hazardous waste pick-up is Saturday, Sept. 26

The event is free to all Orcas households

Orcas Recycling Services and San Juan County Public Works will host a Household Hazardous Waste collection event at the Orcas Transfer Station on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free to all Orcas households (not businesses).

This is the once per-year time when they can accept old fuels including gasoline, kerosene and diesel.

As always acryilic and latex paint will NOT be accepted for free at this event. Latex paint is recyclable, and ORS accepts latex and acrylic paints year-round for a small fee.

For more detail on what is and is not acceptable, visit the Hazardous Waste page on the ORS/Exchange website: http://www.exchangeorcas.org/household-hazardous-waste. You can also learn more about paint recycling there too.
