Historical society seeking auction donations

Do you have some old bookcases stored in the attic? Is your old dining room table and chairs sitting in storage? Is there a dresser lurking in your garage? Does great-aunt Hilda's treasured family tea set no longer fit your lifestyle? Are those special travel souvenirs and collectibles gathering cobwebs? Here is your chance to clean out some things you no longer need and help the Orcas Island Historical Society raise funds to support its operations.

The Historical Society is now seeking donations of nice antiques, collectibles and furniture such as dresser, chairs, tables and bookcases in clean condition to sell at its annual live and silent auctions. If you have something you would like to donate, please call the Historical Society’s office at 376-4849.

The auctions will be held on the Village Green on Saturday, Sept. 3. The live auction runs from noon to 2 p.m. on the Village Green Stage, and the silent auction runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Pioneer Museum. Even if you don’t have anything to donate, come to the auction and purchase some great items. In addition to antiques and furniture, there will be the ever popular auction of gravel, gift certificates for local restaurants and businesses and opportunities to purchase some fun experiences.
