Heinmiller wins fire commissioner race

In the race for San Juan County Fire Protection District #2, commissioner 2, Wes Heinmiller received 547 votes, or58.25 percent and Julie Remington earned 385 votes, or 41 percent.

In the race for San Juan County Fire Protection District #2, commissioner 2, Wes Heinmiller received 547 votes, or 58.25 percent and Julie Remington earned 385 votes, or 41 percent.

In the race for Orcas Island Park and Recreation District, commissioner 5, Theresa Haynie earned 272 votes, or 32.65 percent, and Deborah Jones came in with 555 votes, 66.63 percent. Vicki Vandermay, Bob Eagan, Justin Paulsen and Martha Farish all ran unopposed.

For the Eastsound Sewer and Water District, the following candidates ran unopposed: Michael Stolmeier, D. N.Kinsey and Gregory M. Ayers.
