Friday Harbor teen sustains head injuries after being struck by vehicle

The operator of the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman from Portland, Ore. was arrested on charges of DUI and vehicular assault. She is being held in custody pending a court appearance on Tuesday. Neither the driver or passenger in the vehicle were injured.

A 17-year-old Friday Harbor girl was struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk on Guard St.

She was hit by a 2001 VW Cabrio traveling south through the stop sign and controlled intersection on March 12 around 8:30 p.m. The young woman was airlifted to a mainland hospital with possible head injuries.
