Through arrangements with Councilman Alan Lichter, a documentary film crew from Paris will spend the first week in May in the San Juans, shooting a film on climate change.

The film will be part of a collection of 10 documentaries that will be shot all around the globe (Japan, Australia, Bolivia, Vietnam for example) presenting the way people live and deal with climate change. A French private production company, Adamis, will produce the collection which will be broadcast on the French national channel, “France 5.”

Lichter has helped set up several locations and situations in the islands for the filming, which will involve interviews with citizens, scientific information about local ecosystems, discussions about climate change concerns, impacts on farming and marine activities, and some performance activities with local artists.

The documentary is scheduled to air in December of this year.
