May is National Wildfire Preparedness Month.

Please join Orcas Island Fire and Rescue, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and San Juan Islands Conservation District for a wildfire readiness event on May 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Fire Hall, 45 Lavender Lane in Eastsound.

Wildfire ready plans will be available, and there will be discussions about simple actions islanders can take to prepare for the wildfire season.
