Food Masters sponsors miso making class

The Food Masters group on Orcas Island is presenting a “Miso Making” class on Sunday, May 15 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Olga Energetics Club.

“Studies show that Miso in the diet increases defense against radiation sickness,” say organizers. “For this class we have put together a bulk order of dried Koji, which is used to make Miso. The intention of the class is that everyone will take home Mis.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

Noon to 1 p.m.: Talk and discussion on Miso.

1 to 2 p.m.: Miso soup and potluck lunch (bring something to share).

2 to 3:30 p.m.: Making local miso.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Extending your miso stash.
