Flynn McGilvrey graduates from Naval Nuclear Power Training School

Electrician’s Mate, Petty Officer, Third Class Flynn McGilvrey, a local boy from Friday Harbor, graduated with honors from Naval Nuclear Power Training School in Goose Creek, S.C., on Saturday, Dec. 2. McGilvrey was the top student in his section with the highest grade point average.

Electrician’s Mate, Petty Officer, Third Class Flynn McGilvrey, a local boy from Friday Harbor, graduated with honors from Naval Nuclear Power Training School in Goose Creek, S.C.,  on Saturday, Dec. 2. McGilvrey was the top student in his section with the highest grade point average.

He is the only son of Roger D. McGilvrey of Friday Harbor. Flynn attended  Friday Harbor High School, where he was on the honor roll and graduated with honors in 2008.

He is awaiting his next posting, which will take him to the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratories in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where he will study and practice to qualify as an operator on nuclear reactors.
