Eastsound Summer Solstice Parade

On Saturday, June 20, at noon, Eastsound will host the 11th annual Summer Solstice Parade as a celebration of summer, art and community. The theme this year is “Carnival of Color”.

The whimsical procession will once again glide and swirl on Main Street and up North Beach Road. Immediately following the parade, Orcas performance artists will entertain with music and dance at the Stage on the Green.

Those wishing to participate in the parade should gather at the Odd Fellows Hall, at 112 Haven Road near Madrona Point, at 11a.m.

Participation is limited to those on foot, bicycles, wagons, carts and people powered floats. Motorized vehicles, horses and commercial elements including written words, advertisements and signage are excluded from the parade.

Volunteers are needed to help direct traffic and create costumes and banners. Costume construction workshops and two mask making workshops, co-produced by the Olga Strawberry Council and the Orcas Center, www.olgastrawberrycouncil.org/workshops-masks.html, will be offered to help participants prepare for the parade.
